I Love Fan Mail
Good morning everyone.
I woke up to a crazy email.
Jason Hogge, a lovely socially aware white person, at jhogge@gmail.com wrote (and I didn't change any of the spelling or grammar):
I found your website by clicking on a link in an article i was reading about Hurricane Katriana today. You made the following statement,
"They are sending in thousands of troops to maintain a no tolerance for the looting. Ask yourself this, will each officer have a water bottle and sandwich for a possible refugee? But there is no doubt they will have a bullet if we get out of line. Ya feel me?"
If you Loot, Rob, and steal then yes i hope they do have a bullet for you. No matter what your race is. It is not the fault of the rest of America that blacks choose to do this more than any other race. It is not the fault of America that the majority of blacks choose to not go to school, study, work hard and advance, and thus end up living in poverty. I am white, yet i grew up in absolute poverty. I worked hard and made a life for myself. I never stole from anyone, and i never blamed society for my problems.
America owes you nothing because you are Black. You have more opportunites than a White person does to get an education, you have many more options for financing your education, and thanks to Affirmative action you dont even have to be as skilled or qualified to obtain the same job as a White person. In fact, you can prevent a more qualified White person from justly obtaining employment simply because you are Black. I am tired of all the excuses that Blacks give for their own laziness and worthless lives. America is not responsible because Blacks chose to stay in New Orleans. I have no sympathy for any of them, they should have listened to the warnings that were given DAYS in advance. I dont believe the excuse that they couldn't leave, if the Government was giving away free crack, they would have been there no matter what, even if they had to walk 100 miles.
Cry all you want about this perceived injustice, it's your own fault as a people that you were in that situation. So you want to help your people, then tell them the truth. We dont care about you because you dont care about yourselves enough to do anything about it. So keep on waiting for the day when the Government will raise your families and pay for everything you need, then you wont have to be responsible for anything. Oh wait, we already do that. Good riddance.

First of all Jason, I didn’t say that. My friend Lionel, the artist that lost everything, he said that and I posted it to my website. That’s not the point though.
YOU still said all the things you said and wow, no mention of class. You know, the whole race and class being intertwined thing that always seems to escape those who want to make blatantly racist remarks and seem intelligent in doing so. This is an AMAZING email. On so many levels. Just wow.
